what a horrible life Conrad must have had .. these pix remind me of what Poco looked like when i first got her ,.nov 2003
she was NOWHERE NEAR as bad as conrad, but her chest was bald .. she just kept plucking her feathers out as soon as they' d start to grow in ..
fortunately she never did mutilate her skin .. she never had any sores ..
during this time (nov,dec,03) i discovered mytoos.com and started reading . . (yeah , i was one of those who buy a bird BEFORE DOING ANY RESEARCH) .. WELL ,,,, i read about giving them wood and cardboard .. started asking my entire family to save all their cardboad, (soda cartons, cigarette boxes, and cartons, cereal boxes ...etc . ) . .i always have a constant flow of c.b in the house and she loves to just shred it .. she tears the paper off the cardboard .. sometimes shreds the c.b. too ..she esp likes corrugated thick c.b .. that's her favorite..
well, after almost 9mths .. she is fully feathered . .during all those months i started sticking her large feathers that she'd plucked out, (wing) into a wreath i have on my door. there must be 20 in there by now . .i call it 'poco's wreath' .. everytime i look at it , i think of what she looked like when i found her .. always in her huge condo .. never allowed out and with only two stringy pieces of clothe to play with .. very sad indeed
i still wish i could spend more time with her, i' hate putting her in that condo every morning and nite.. and she hates it too ..
lucky conrad, ,to have found a wonderful owner who loves him so much ..
wish i could have seen the august pic. . .couldnt 'find it ..
good luck with him .. Jeanne
