I've never gotten Bokka a Dome Top. We bought him a flat op cage that you can buy from Petsmart, its for temporary use only. I dont like it too much. So its either that cage up in the link or the Dome Top I am looking at.

Chewy is your cage dome top or play top?

Dome Top
http://www.queencitypets.com/details.asp?prodid=9004836&cat=107

Which one would you go with?

I have seen TOOs in Playtop cages, and Dome top. Dome Tops (like Bokka old cage, which is too small for him anyway) are bigger than Play tops, but play tops have that cue lil play area ontop of there cage.

Uggh. lol. I am still thinking on each cage.

I have seen people over crowd their brids a bit too much. Bokka isnt very fond of every toy on the mart, so I usually jus tput the toy on the OUTSIDE of his flat top cage and he chews on it on the outside, when inside his cage, he'll just perch himself, or chew on a few things, and shred paper. lol.

And he is more of a "wing flapper"

Im still thinking on whether to get a play top or Dome. What do you think?

He is outside of his cage A LOT, but.. I like my babies to come home to a mansions, ya know?

I am not sure if I should overcrowd him with toys or not. Like I see so many people do their **** . But I do rotate toys every day and he has about 10 inside his current temp. cage which is 34long x 28 wide and 50" tall.

Hmm.. decisions, decisions.

All of my birds have the play tops and they LOVE THEM. I do not prefer the dome tops, unless you have a big tree they can go on to.

The Booda Comfy Criss-Cross perches make a nice play top area on dome cages. You can hook and tie all kinds of toys to them. You just shape them like a 4-legged spider and screw them from the inside of the cage.

I have the dome top for my AV Hacienda cage. I think it depends on the bird, though. Snow White will only stay on the cage if I'm literally right there with her. If I walk away even for a few seconds, she'll go down to the floor (which is how she got attacked by one of my toy poodles, but an overnight stay at the vet and a weeks worth of antibiotic shots, and she was OK fortunately). The dome top is better for her in that it gives a lot more room inside the cage.

If your bird actually uses the play area, though, I'd imagine it would be quite useful.

Kahlua has a cage almost exactly like the one you put in your first post, except his is silver. The top is a little different style, but it has the same lock and everything else.

I have a boing hanging from the ceiling right above his cage as well. Cage filled with toys.

Brewster had a play top when we first got him. He was agressive & defensive when he was up there. We got a huge dome top and it had more inside space. I think I am having mixed feelings about which is better because, now that he is more friendly & compatable, I think he may like to have a play top....he doesn't complain though laugh He's not in the cage all the time! Even when your bird is on a play top he would need supervision because of climbing off to explore eek

I have 2 of the flat top ones, I think the same cage but I think it's 2 or 2 1/2 feet deep. I like the flat tops because you can put play gyms on the top and change them from time to time. I keep the water dish on top of one of the cages.

I replaced the trays on the bottom and top with clear plexi-glass cut to fit and took out the trays. It's nice because they can see out the top and it never rusts. No matter what I did before with the trays I always ended up replacing them because the birds would go in one area and it would rust, or they would spill water on top and it would rust eventually. I don't think it cost any more with the thick plexi glass than it did to replace the trays.

What a pretty bird!!! That old cage is pretty awesome in itsself.
Bokka, Chewy has a flat top that opens up but I dont open it becasue I don't want to mess up his toys.
The cage that I have been looking at getting him is a play top though. And I think that he'd like it just fine, he likes the one that I put him in at my friends house, he sleeps in it, but is on the cage most of the day when we are over there.

nehumanuscrede, that's a beautiful cage. I've never seen one like it. Is it custom made? The curtain on the runner around the cage is a great idea. It's amazing what parrot owners come up with. A perfect solution.

That is a nice setup.

I have Snow White's cage more crowded than that, though -- maybe too crowded eek

Here is Molly's cage. It's hard to see, but she has a sleeping ledge in the back on the left with one of those frayed rope circles to preen (she doesn't often sleep there, though) and a huge boing on the right hand side. Her cage is the same size as the link in your first post and I got it on eBay for about $300 when you factor in shipping.

Oh, just noticed the first one doesn't have a seed skirt. You want one of those if you have a playtop or allow your bird to climb around on the cage. Saves a lot of poop off the floor.
