My husband came home yet again with a result of his bird addiction and this time it is more problematic. He brought a B&G Macaw and I have read they can get very allergic to Too dust and susceptible to allergies and lung problems.

I want to know if anyone on here has both those type of birds for any good length of time and if you have any problems. Before I invest in some VERY expensive air cleaners, I want to know if they are going to make a big difference. I may have to re-home the Macaw again, but I don't wan them to get sick either.

Help!

Beth

If you must cripple a creature
to keep it, perhaps you should
reconsider its suitability as a pet.

I have 8 birds, a M2 and a Macaw is among them, I keep them in different rooms and have filters in both rooms, I've had no problems with any of them. I don't know if you can do this but if you can keep them in seperate rooms for sleeping or resting, the dust is on the walls and you won't notice it. if they are out at the same time be shore to have a good filter in place to keep any dust from the Macaw...It just take looking to details and you should have no problems..

The ONLY place I have for the Macaw is right next to the Moluccan..in the same room. I dom't want to move other czges around because the birds have been where they are for years.

I am considering an air cleaner, like the one suggested above, but wow, expensive!!

Am considering my options.

Thanks for the advice
