I presume you're refering to your other post. That post is rather incoherent. I changed the topic of your post here with the assumption that this question is regarding that topic.

You can always edit your own posts simply by selecting the edit icon (paper with pencil) just above the post. You can also add a response to a previous post in the same thread. Please try to keep things together to make it easier for others to follow.

It's a good question about the nuts. I'll do a search for previous topics. I give Popeye the mixed nuts in the shell. He's never eaten the meat, but just destroys the woody shell.

p.s. Michael, glad to see your smiling face again!

I usually will stock up in the fall on the bags of mixed nuts in the shell. I feed about 10 or 12 whole nuts, 3 to 4 times a week. Break a few to be sure they are good as I have found the the brazils will go bad, usually before I buy them.

I took for granted that nuts in the shells were always in stores and didn't pay attention to the thread way back in the beginning of the winter about freezing nuts...I have looked high and low for nuts in the shells and they are GONE!!!

I just have no idea where to find them around here.

If she is eating them from your bowl, I am guessing that they might be the salted snack kind. I have heard several times on this board that you shouldn't give your toos anything salty. I am sure a few here and there will not hurt them, but just be careful that she isn't going crazy with them.

In the shell is a great foot toy. Kyu the U2 will crack a small whole it the brazil nut and clean it out. Most of the in shell nut are not salted. You can still get them online from most of the bird supply site.

Tara loves her nut treats. I buy bags of the mixed nuts, and she seems to prefer walnuts for eating, the brazils and the hazels she uses for throwing at the dog.

Tara is on the ball! My TOO also finds that Brazils can thunk a dog head pretty well! Although I am so amazed on how quick it takes Babe-Zee to crack one open! I have a nutcracker yet still takes me alot longer!!!!
