I use Nekton-S in my birds water and was just wondering if any of you use their products. They are a company that makes supplements for animals. Do any of you know if this is a good supplement to use for your birds?
Thanks,
Aviaries

Nekton is an excellent product. They have a variety , depending for everyday nekton-S, Nekton Bio while molting, also for different birds Nekton-Lori and the Nekton MSA is minerals and calcium with D-3 in it. I have used their product since the l980ties. You can use it in the drinking water, but it is better in the soft food diet. My birds are on the Bean Diet and twice a week they get one of the Nekton Supplements in there.
The beauty of this product is that it doesn`t really go outdated as in bad, but rather after the "best before date" the product is still usable, you just need a bit more of it and the taste may not be as fruity.

Thanks LindaK!
I'm thinking of trying the Nekton MSA for my birds. I usually put the nekton in my birds water, but it never dissolves! mad I even put it into some boiling water to get it to disolve but it never does. It just sinks to the bottom after an hour or two. Do you think that they are still drinking the nekton even though it sinks?

Do you not feed your birds some sort of soft food?Something that you know they will consume? It really is a lot better to mix in a soft food. What about cooked rice, or soften a part of their pellets and feed those warm with the Nekton mixed in as their first food in the am. They eat best in the am, cause that`s when they are hungry. Even if it does mix in water, that water can`t taste all that good. If not sprinkle some over their fruit, whichever is their favored food. Good luck. PS: Yes they do get some benefit from the water too.

Yes I do give them veggies. I'll try putting it on them.

Veggies is a good idea. Maybe you can cook some Yams for them, most birds love to eat those warm. Just make sure the food isn`t too warm, else it`ll take away the potency of the vitamins.
Good luck smile
