I am choosing to post on MyToos. If it were not for Charlie, Janet, Janny, Elliot, Nancy, Sharron, Kim and many more o’timers on this forum I don’t believe that Macawman and CharlieToo would have believed Brandy had a chance with my care. Social media Apps make me question security and truthfulness. Therefore, I am going to be a more involved member.

That's awesome that you are back. Facebook gets really frustrating trying to deal with people's views. I watch new keepers that will listen to whoever says what they want to hear. It's so sad because you just know that down the road the bird is going to suffer. I'm happy to see you back.
Is MyToos on Facebook? Pretty quiet around here Unfortunate because this site was quite a going concern "back in the day" Brandy and Cassie, do you remember TuffysMom and her Rocky that had so many troubles before he so sadly passed on? I think of them often. Oh, and KingLes ...
Glad you are back and contributing. Yes, the Facebook page is read only. It had to be that way because we would have to sit there all day throwing away ridiculous posts. As you pointed out, we have made a very successful and helpful site because of the fact that we can just outright delete crap that pops up. We have no obligation to any beneficiary that would stifle the truth. Living with cockatoos is not for the faint of heart and wading through a bunch of useless advice just makes matters worse.
Since the advent of social media, there is not as much traffic on a site like ours but it remains a rock solid vault of good information for those that need it. It took many years to accumulate and is there for the asking. I know I needed it all those years ago when I wanted to pull my hair out! Many, many valuable members and their input have been chronicled. It always does my heart good to see people continue to appreciate it and pledge their continuing support!
We still have the most qualified and dedicated Moderators. I thank God for them every day!
It's easier to follow a post if you start a new one. But in answer to your question some are and some aren't. There are some that are down right dangerous giving veterinary advise by non veterinary people. I do believe there is a law against practicing veterinary medicine without a license. There are a few others that give training advise that are not trainers. It wouldn't be so bad if these people linked to articles by professionals to back up what they are saying. There are a couple of the groups out there that are raising funds for rescues that do a phenomenal job and keep really good records remaining transparent. There are a couple of pages that I know of that are really trying to help new cockatoo and parrot keepers learn what they need to know. Sadly in this day and age of Google people still go out and buy babies or buy off Craigslist. It's still for all the wrong reasons, want a bird that talks, cuddles, looks pretty and the list goes on. In the past 14 years since I got Cassie and joined Mytoos I have never been so frustrated trying to help others. You try to give good information with references and some bozo comes on telling the person that the information is wrong and don't worry your bird can do X, Y or Z and not suffer any consequences. So look closely at the groups you join and read responses. If it's a good group the whackadoodle responses will be eliminated quickly. Welcome to Mytoos.
