I remember a few details of a sad story concerning a Cockatoo that was mistreated by people who thought a bird would be a great pet. I know, there are a million of them here. Of all the stories, it stands out in my mind as one of the worst.

I'm pretty sure I read about on mytoos. The story goes something like a man and woman who's children have moved out are having marriage trouble. Someone decides that getting a cockatoo would be like a new child. The "child" would help hold the marriage together.

That does not work the husband grows to hate the bird and the marriage goes down hill. The husband turns into a drunk. The wife leaves and the bird is moved to the closet. After this time, only the man's daughter comes by the house. One day the daughter finds the bird in the corner abused and saves the bird's life by taking him to the vet.

Dose anyone here remember that story? I've been looking for I, but haven't figured out the right combination of keywords to find it.

Heard and read hundreds of them just like it!

Thanks for the reminder. I don't know how many "message board" frequenters are familiar with our "main page". It is a wealth of information!

I remember it too, but am glad you found it for yourself. I would have taken about five years to find it!

Charlie, the main pages are a wealth of onformation, but I just read some of it again, and wondered, is it possible to uodate certain tnings? For example, when giving people information about cages, it has a minimum cost of a cockatoo cage for a Molluccan listed at $800, but I can't remember seeing one, even on sale cheap, that cost less than a thousand. I may just be looking in Pricey Places, but also know that cheap cages can injure, poisin, or kill the occupants!
I know vets' prices have risen, too, but theirs seem to just keep pace with groceries, rather than jumping ahead so fast you can't keep up!
