So the new Too in the house is doing well, my wife says he has been very chatty today, came out of his cage and went to the top to grab a toy then went back in with it. eating well, drinking well, pooping well, still very Leary of the males in the house, perhaps past experiences with them? I keep large cichles and he reminds me of Oscars with his we will wait and see of I am going to like you attitude. I am sure I will have questions as he gets more comfy. Mean time all going well.

There is what is commonly referred to as the "honeymoon period." This is the period of time when the too is first brought home until it becomes comfortable in its new environment and its true character comes out. For some this may only be a week or two, for others a number of months may go by. Many do change from being quiet to aggressive. Some remain the same as when they were first brought into the home. Our M2 was pretty non-aggressive when we first got her and remains that way nearly 12 years later. However. what the owner learns or doesn't learn about the species in general and their bird specifically can hugely impact the outcome of this.

well looks like honeymoon time over, boy does he like to let himself known. figuring his moods are a bit of a challenge. have got use to and except the 20 minutes of screaming and dancing when we get home. or any one gets home. after that he settles down and is into some beak rubbing and scratching. he fires back when the sun goes down. again only 10 or 20 minutes, seems to love to throw things off the top of his cage, and then laugh,
he also takes to screaming when I leave the room. I am reading this in normal, so I let him know I am going and then yell from where ever i am that I am here and i hear you.

We love the bird,

When I adopted my U2, Alex he used to scream when I left his sight. Alex was also a talker and he came saying several phrases, one of which was "Hey Bird!" I taught him to use "Hey Bird" as our "contact call". Didn't take him long to learn that yelling produced nothing but "Hey Bird" either produced my walking back into his sight or hearing me reply "Hey Bird" back to him. Much more pleasant to the ears than yelling. If I took too long to actually come back into the room he still didn't resort to yelling, but the "Hey bird"s came more frequently.

He looks very happy with his feather face going on. For such a new bird in the home he appears to be very calm and settled.

He does appear to be doing pretty good. The goffins looks a little uncomfortable but I'm sure will settle in soon. Has the little one been to the vet yet? He should have been put into quarantine for a month before being introduced to they other bird.

no quarantine. the owner we got him from had him for 6 years, she received as a plucking problem, the owner before did not take care of the bird, their kids took to kicking the cage for fun.

she got him back on track and he stopped plucking and luckily his bare chest grew back with no perm DMG.
She had to rehome him because of worsening asthma and bird allergy.

he is a love bug, snuggles with the wife every day now. complete opposite of ragnar.

Has he been to the vet? All birds should be vetted and wait 30 days before being introduced into the group to prevent the spread of disease. Most people don't realize that parrots are able to mask illness, appearing healthy until it's too late.

Looks like your wife is a bird lady! Both birds seem to be adjusting well in your home, that's wonderful.

update on the 2, Raggy has settled in well, still working on more physical contact with him for my part. seems to hate my son inlaw as he will fly off his perch and attack him.
the goffin, is well a gofffin. dances with the kids, not vocal and not aggressive.
