Bo passed away today, his little body was just not responding to the steroids and he was getting worse. He was miserable, not understanding what happened and why he could not move even though he tried so hard. He was pitiful, he wanted to live but not like this, the vet said it was a matter of time and I had to make the hardest decision to go ahead and let him go before it got worse and he was in even more pain. I'm sure the love of his life, Belle, was waiting for him on the other side of the bridge and they are together forever now. No more seizures, no more mind altering drugs, seeing out of both eyes, no more cages, flying high with your Belle, she's been waiting on you. I'll love you forever and thank you for making me laugh and being my little buddy while on this earth. Meet you on the other side.....love, momma.

cry cry cry

We are so lucky to have these creatures to share life with... but it hurts SO badly.
Oh, yah. ...Love will do that.

My favorite poem:

Mutability ["The flower that smiles to-day"]
BY PERCY BYSSHE SHELLEY

The flower that smiles to-day
To-morrow dies;
All that we wish to stay
Tempts and then flies.
What is this world's delight?
Lightning that mocks the night,
Brief even as bright.

Virtue, how frail it is!
Friendship how rare!
Love, how it sells poor bliss
For proud despair!
But we, though soon they fall,
Survive their joy, and all
Which ours we call.

Whilst skies are blue and bright,
Whilst flowers are gay,
Whilst eyes that change ere night
Make glad the day;
Whilst yet the calm hours creep,
Dream thou—and from thy sleep
Then wake to weep.

(I prefer to stop reading at the end of stanza two, but this is what he wrote.)

I'm so very sorry to hear of Bo's passing. He was one of the lucky ones living in a loving home. I'm sure he will be looking out for you until you meet again at the bridge.

Thank you everyone for your kind words, it really means a lot to me and I know so many of you have been in my shoes. There's not a moment that goes by that I don't question my decision and it will be a long time before my spirit is at rest with it. The birds seem ok today except Riley, he keeps looking for him, he has been through a lot this year with angel dog passing away a couple of months ago. He has lost the 2 that he was closest to. Thank you for the lovely poem, birdfriend it seems to somehow capture my feelings now, I'm going to copy it. I loved Bo from the moment I saw him and he had a way of cheering me up. Thank you all again for being here for me at this difficult time.

I just caught up on the situation and I am so very sad that it came to this. You must always hang on to everything positive that you had with Bo because very few have such a loving relationship and companionship that he enjoyed on this earth with you and your flock. May you all have peace and I hope good memories quickly overtake the bad, they always do in the end with the ones we loved. Rest in peace, Bo.

Thank you again everyone, for the kind words and support. Its going to take a long time to feel normal again without him and poor Footie has once again lost a friend. When I adopted him a little over a year ago, he was plucking, most likely due to the loss of cage mates and humans and now this. Im giving him extra attention and Riley now climbs a chair close to his cage and talks cockatoo to him, Im not sure Footie is comfortable with that so looks like Im going to have to rearrange furniture. Bo had such a big personality for a little guy, we all miss his laughing and scorning. It really helps being able to talk about his loss with people who understand and care.
