Pretty little egg..clean, unbroken, Sunshine is perched, clean and advertising her achievement. wink

Going down to 25 degrees tonight. extra shallow water bowl in her cage as the heat MUST be on.

I knew it was going to happen....she spends her days turning herself inside-out for Sammie-Sue (M2)

February 13, 2015 1837 hrs #2 arrived as we were getting ready for nite-nite. She was perched and the egg dropped about 12 inches onto a towel. It's dented. She may had laid in her nest if the excitement of the nite-nite routine of passing out treats had not been going on. She is clean and so is the egg. I gave her some Hi-Pro mash to bolster her. She quickly ate about a half-teaspoon full. Checked on her several times for a few hours and she was upset with the interuption of her sleep, but doing fine.

Hi! Beeps! How are you??

No, She is not. I figure there will be one or two more then she may. Last year Blue laid a beautiful clutch of four. What a great mama she would have been. She set them for about six weeks, she turned them and even the last 10 days or so she'd beak them and chirp at them and turn her head listening for a chirp back...she had me in tears watching her.

Hope you are doing well.... grin

I found the dented egg outside the nest this morning, at noon it was buried under the towel..2200 hours I checked on her and a nice little egg in the other corner of the cage. Put #3 in the nest and removed egg #2.
Ice storm tonight into tomorrow about 1800 hours. The heaters are just keeping up with the cold...and it's supposed to be -2 later in the week. eek

Somehow I missed your last two posts! Since it's been 6+ weeks, is she off of the eggs now?

I know what you mean about being in tears by seeing what good parents they would make. So sad they're in captivity. Just heartbreaking.

DARN!! April 2, 2015
Including the one egg that broke this clutch ended with 7. She's been setting the remaining 6 and is on the 6 right now.
HOWEVER, this morning I found a NEW egg on the grate at the other end of the cage floor. frown about 2008 we had a season of egg laying with Shasta and Ozark ('Tiel-sisters) but at least there was a week or so between clutches. I want to mark the new egg and leave it where she laid it. What do you mark and egg with? I don't want to use a lead pencil nor a sharpie (fumes) Thanks......

Most 'lead' pencils now days are made with graphite, which is harmless, its what we always use to date chicken eggs with...unless your pencils are over 20 years old they will be safe to use :-)

If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem
