Zeus is a funny little bird. He'll call for me like any other bird when I'm not in sight, but if I don't respond adequately (preferably with my presence), he actually takes off to look for me! He methodically flies to each room, calling, and once he finds me he lands on me, chirps in my ear, and then returns to his cage! He'll repeat this until I go back with him. He's quite brilliant at flying, even though his feathers are just barely growing out from his last clip. smile

My flock: Monty (Eleanora/medium sulphur crested cockatoo), Benjamin Button (European Starling).

I have made some attempts to slow down Billy's flight by clipping his feathers, but it doesn't do much good. Cockatiels are small-bodied, large-winged, energétic, and determined. Even if all the primaries are shortened by half, Bill can still flap madly around, eluding my attempts to catch him, if he's not willing to be caught. As Phred commented the first time he observed this, "Billy-Billy flipflopfly!"
