I found this site a couple of weeks ago and emailed 'julius' just to comment on the gorgeous photos and to commend him for doing such a good job of caring for the injured hen. It really is lovely isn't it?

I know this is old, but I wanted to say I love this story. I think the people in this case did the right thing. It does involve humans a lot, but I think it's fine. That baby will grow up and live a normal cockatoo life, I imagine, which is the most important thing.

I think this is a really nice story, not very sad at all. Certainly sad the bird lost its wing but such a happy and nice ending. It makes me wanna move to the homeland of my Umbrella Cockatoo and see her be in the wild. I really wish I'd have found this website before I got my bird. It would have made me think twice about getting one. Mine is very lovely but you can't deny they must be much happier in nature than as pets.

Gosh I haven't read that story for a while now. Every time I do, I think, "that could have been Bill". It's a beautiful story.
