O was moved up from isolation this morning. He has already charmed the socks off of every one he's met. He had the maintenance staff roaring. His cage is in my office, and he spent the first part of the morning happily exploring and grooming. I snapped a few pictures: http://s468.photobucket.com/albums/rr42/...Best%20Friends/

And best of all, O has a crest feather which is almost all the way in!

Ditto! Can't even guess how many birds I've cried over in almost four years, It's always great when we get good news!

Last night was O's first night at the sanctuary. After 5 we were having an on-site going away party for a staff member. I could hear O calling, so went and got him. He had a great time showing off for all the people. I snapped a few pictures: http://s468.photobucket.com/albums/rr42/...%20the%20party/

Thank you Jacque, this is truly where O was meant to be. Wonderful how things turn out, isn't it? If it wasn't for MyToos, yet again.....

I knew O would be a hit...but I didn't know how much of one he'd become. With just a couple of days under his belt, he's already appointed himself official greeter. When ever one of the tours comes in the building, he starts yelling "hi, hi" until the folks come to see him. Then he says "hello pretty girl" which is always a hit. I must say that he speaks clearer than any cockatoo I've ever met. When the people start to leave the building he always yells "bye" as they leave the room.

During the day he has out of cage priveleges, and I must say, he doesn't abuse the privelege. At least not yet! I'm sure as he gets more comfortable, he'll start pushing the boundaries.

We've had a lot of interest in adopting him, but at this point I'm lobbying to keep him as an education bird. He seems to adore the limelight, and we often take birds to nursing homes and schools. He would be a natural.

Jacque, I think it is fitting that he should become a teacher. He can teach children what happens when these birds needs aren't being met or when a bird considers their caregiver to be their mate. Just not good for the bird.

I knew he was going to shine!!! And I love the updates.

I truly feel that being a permanent part of Best Friends, is an ideal position for "O"! He just seems to shine in a sitting with lots of folks around. I cant really imagine him being in a single family home happily. Stars need to shine for everyone !!!

I have also never met a Too that speaks as clearly, and loves to interact, the way O does...

I know all birds are different...when strangers enter my home Buddi withdraws to the back corner of his cage and does not make a peep...yet O thrives in a group setting...the previous owner used to use O to entertain camp kids outdoors and he was a hit on xmas eve in my home with a house full of people and he knew no one...

He is the ultimate good will embassador...and he may have found his calling at BF...

You go O! Soon you'll be sporting a Mohawk! I can only imagine the relief you feel, Greg, knowing O is so happy and that you made the right decision for both of you.

I took O with me down to the Welcome Center this morning....he was absolutely thrilled to show-off for everyone from the toddlers to the senior citizens. Just give him a stage and let him go.

It is amazing, isn't it...the way he excels in a group setting...ever see the "Bewitched" episode when Samantha turns Darren's client into a cat? I have always said O is a person trapped in a birds body...

He is one of a kind...I miss him every day as "sqwauk-a-palooza" has not been the same without him...yet I am so happy for him...and grateful to BF, for whom I am now a "guardian angel"...

So, who is louder...O or Sunshine?
