I just wanted to post that while repairs were being made from the May 1, 2 tornado/water damage all nine of my birds were boarded with their Avian Veterinarian for 25 days. All of us pay dearly to get our flock highly qualified health/emergency care. So, boarding all nine birds was at considerable expense. We kept being given excuses by our insurance for not covering the boarding fees. I finally put together information from qualified avian experts exactly why avians could not be in proximity to the damage and repair work being done. Well, after reviewing the information and a phone call to the flocks Veterinarian for further clarification Allstate Insurance has stepped up to the plate for us. The way unforeseen circumstances have been coming around, make sure you insurance company understands WHY your birds must be cared for by an AAV member. I pray that all of you stay safe.

I'm so sorry you have had such a rough time. I was very lucky a couple of years ago when we had an electrical fire. Our insurance company covered everything including the birds at the sitters. I'll have to find out from my husband which company we use. We were out of the house for only about a week maybe less but they covered our hotel and meals also. Denise, I am sorry to hear that all of you were victims of the tornado. I know you well enough to know that you are definitely counting your blessings that no one was harmed, and good deal on the insurance company stepping up to the plate to assist you with the financial expense of boarding your birds. Good job keeping on them and presenting your case well.
