Sounds good Bev. I will hold off putting the check I wrote, in the mail tomorrow to see what they say. I agree, a one click donation would be easier. Many non-profits don't like to use Paypal because of the transaction fee they charge - even for those with non-profit status. Google offers a quick checkout and does not charge non-profits a handling fee.

Thanks, Bev! I'm sure they would get better response. Many people, I'm sure, would throw in $20 or more if they could just click a button and have the money where it needs to go!

This particular humane society is one of the best in the country - these poor birds could not have landed at a better way station! Each year for the last 6 years, I have sponsored an umbrella cockatoo who is a sanctuary resident at their Popcorn Park Zoo, and I regularly get updates on that bird as well as all the other animals in their care. I will be sending them a donation this week! This whole situation is just heartbreaking!

EM, that sounds even better. Do you want to call them and suggest Google. I can e-mail you the phone number and woman's name.

I have to concur with Janny -there is no doubt mental illness played a big part in this tragedy. I am certainly not absolving this woman of responsibilty but have to feel soemone know something about this situation and did nothing to help this poor women or the helpless, suffering birds. PayPal would be a great way to get money help sent quickly - keep us posted, Charlie or Bev, on whether this gets set up.

Thanks EM and Bev~ will be looking for the payment method info and sending some money asap! Wish I was close enough to lend a hand. I recall some of you speaking of a nuts online company that donates to help rescues; perhaps they could/would help???

That woman MUST be banned from ever being allowed to keep an animal again. Look at those cages; I would not keep a single tiny finch in something of that size for more than a trip to the vet. Cruelty and murder like this are heinous CRIMES...

Spoke to the lady today and she is going to get in contact with the manager of the branch where the birds are and talk to him about setting up PayPal/Google or at least another option for us who want to donate to help those birds. I gave them my contact numbers and e-mail and will let you know as soon as I hear from him.

Bev

I told her we just want to click a button and help.

Beverly:

I spoke with our bookkeeping department and was advised that people can go on to Paypal.com and give a donation through paypal. Our e-mail address to send the donation through Paypal is bookkeepingnwk1@aol.com. Hope this helps. Debbie AHS

Thanks, Bev! I'm sending mine right now!

If anyone calls these people, they may need to talk to PayPal about taking donations this way. I got in trouble with PayPal for taking donations last year for Mytoos' software upgrade. These accounts are usually for buying goods and services. It's not the end of the world, but it is a pain in the butt!

Please help these birds people and send WHATEVER you can afford regardless of whether you think it is enough to help. EVERY LITTLE BIT FEEDS A BIRD!

send through PayPal to bookkeepingnwk1@aol.com

If you click on "personal" when donating funds to this Paypal Account it gives you the option of paying the fee so the rescue gets the full $20.
Just an FYI smile

+1...I just pay pal...those pictures showing how they were housed are just awful...those poor birds...

If they are housed in Tinton Falls they are not too far from me...I am going to volunteer to help with care, if they will have me...

Thanks for the link and info about sending it as "Personal" I didn't know that feature exists, and it's great that they get the full amount without any fees being deducted.

I sent mine, even though it feels like a drop in the bucket. Hopefully, it will help a bit.

The gentleman from AHS contacted me about volunteering and raised an interesting point...he asked me if I had any birds at home that I might bring something home to...I can't believe I did not think of this...

Maybe not such a good idea?

Hi Greg, whenever I have returned from visiting a friend(s) who is keeping animals of any species, I strip to my underwear in the gagrage, take off my shoes before I enter my house. Later I wipe my shoe soles and then dip in one part water, 1 part clorax. The cloths gets washed with regular items. This procedure, is quick and has worked for me the past 7 years. Hope this helps with your decision to help out with the birds.
