I think it is time we went through this book again. I will give people time to order it. Just let me know how many people are interested. The book is very easy to understand. We will go through it a chapter or even paragraph if necessary at a time.

Just placed my order Bev. Expected delivery date of March 10th + ...
I 'think' I understand the basics of ABA when you explain it... but it's all gibberish when I try to decipher it elsewhere.
After 20 years it's time for a behavioral tune-up... or at least an oil change!! smile

We'll give some time for the people that are interested to get their book. I think you will enjoy this. The most difficult part is understanding the psychology jargon but he attempts to get away from that so that people can understand what he is talking about. It's a good book.

How much did you end up paying for the book, Liisa? I paid $20 for it. Canadians get ripped off. LOL

I would like to participate but am looking at April before I can spend the money. I'll jump in when I get my book (if that's OK).

(have seen it on sale for $13)

$23 USD - Bev, through Amazon link you provided TY smile

$9 of that was shipping, Canadians burn on that too!
If the book is really good though & I reread it at a later date, it's money well-spent.

For fiction & 'fluff' reading... I use my library card. smile

OK, it's time to get started. For the people who are interested and have the book, please read Chapter 1. We will start the discussion next Saturday. If you have any questions, ask away.

I won't be around much next weekend to participate with Easter on Sunday. I'll have to catch up later in the week.

Just read Chapter 1 & 2.

I need to know how many people will be participating. Can you post and let us know.

Maybe we can wait until the following weekend so everyone gets to enjoy Easter.

I have the book and I'll be participatiing as things have settled down a bit in my life. Now that it's getting warmer, Cleo and I can work outside. Starting the week-end after Easter is a good idea IMHO. A little more time for studying!

Still on for this? I'll be ordering mine shortly and will take around a week to arrive. When do we start as a groupa analyzing the book, etc?

Daniel, we are going to start April 10th. The first two chapters are pretty short so it shouldn't take long for you to get through them. We won't leave you behind, OK?

ZazuSally, that's great. I just hope I don't delay any of you! I've ordered the book right now, shipping is 2-3 and then well... I don't know how long exactly it will take to arrive. About 4-7 days I should say.

So, this book can be applied to birds and humans?

It's great to see you're trying to help us all understand a bit more about ABA -- I'm a total newbie!

Daniel, ABA can be applied to any living creature. It is used to modify psychotic behaviour, very big with autistic children and an excellent tool to get the behaviour we want from our birds.

We won't be starting until next weekend and the first two chapters are very short. We leave nobody behind. LOL

I don't have a 'too or a parrot but I'm interested in owning one -- I hope this helps a little and I appreciate your guidance! :-) I can't wait for the book to arrive, it seems extremely interesting. I love the fact that it can be applied to any living creature. I've also bought the "DON'T SHOOT THE DOG!" - is that good too?

It is an excellent book, Daniel. I have it myself.

Bev

And you know something, I think you must be pretty special if you want to learn about ABA and you don't have a parrot. Good for you!!!! I wish more people took the time to learn about ABA before they got any kind of animal. Maybe there wouldn't be so many animals dumped.
