He's remarkably well behaved. That's the only thing I can tell you about Bill. He did try to grab the tension band as it went around, but a couple of "uh uh" to him stopped it and he wasn't interested. I think he might have been a little sleepy.

The tatty? I think the one you're seeing is indigenous BC flowers capped with celtic knotwork.

yeah, bill's been learning "no keys" in reference to the keyboard. It seems to have transfered to the remote too, which, oddly enough, is missing a few buttons....suspicious scoop marks in what is left of them...

Haha I know the scoop marks. I actually thought the other day I somehow had a new remote for the tv, so I frantically searched for any missing pieces. Nope, it's the same old one.

Very funny that a few days later a friend came over and did the EXACT same thing, and mentioned out loud "oh I thought you had a new remote but saw the eaten buttons"

Razzle'sMommy - Great idea! Like you, I am the picture-taker around here, so very few pics of me with anybody, let alone with Isabella. I'll look around for one and load it into my photobucket account. By the way... you and your Dad look to be of Italian heritage (very attractive!). I am a 3rd-generation Italian-American. My ancestors immigrated to the States in the late-1800's and settled in South Texas where the farmland was cheap.

Spinny - you and your bird are adorable! But, you already know that grin!

And sandiego - you are a cutie, too! Almost as cute as your Kahlua smile (And so is your friend - I'd keep him around for awhile, LOL!)

John - I really appreciate the time you have taken to post those videos from your vet on birdcare, and also the pics of your birds' wonderful play/living room! You are awesome!

John yes, he rocks.. so knowledgable (typo sorry)! I have the photo pages bookmarked for when I start building my bird room.. I cannot wait!
Annette, I am somewhat a Mutt lol.. Mom is 100% Italian, Dad is Italian, German, Chek Russian mix. I want to follow all are lines and scrapbook them one day. My Mom's side came over to Staten Island the settled later on farm land in Long Island.. now I am in Florida =) Like it hot. Try to find that pic! I have no #'s on remote missing YET.. but she did manage to get hold of my camera card a small one right after I uploaded pics and pretty much bent it in half in the 2 sec I got it out of her mouth!

You've already seen My ugly mug.
http://picasaweb.google.com/jlcribber/Pets/photo#5161502521186605506

Some notable zoo members.

This was our very first bird "Scummo". He died of old age right in my hand in 2005 at

the age of 23. This was a text book cockatiel. Got him at around 15 weeks old. Never

lived in a cage. Free flighted his entire life. He is responsible for my "bird brain

fever". We had him creamated. He now lives in a beautiful chinese vase on the mantle.

http://picasaweb.google.com/jlcribber/Pets/photo#5161484997720036850

These 2 are presently living in the zoo. Squeaky (blue, male) is 9 yrs old now. Whitey

(white, female) is 8 yrs old. They met when they were 1 and 2. The female is sterile and

never layed an egg. They are inseparable.

http://picasaweb.google.com/jlcribber/Pets/photo#5161484400719582530

This poor soul came to us with severe health problems. 17 yrs old. Very abused.

Providing details would just make me cry. Again. She was only with us for a couple of

months. She too died in my hand. Her name was "Buddy" because the owner had no idea she

was a female. We called her "Buddygirl". That bird and that !*&%@! owner changed my

life. I've been a fanatic ever since. I just want everyone to see her and be remembered.

I only had a chance to get 1 picture of her.
http://picasaweb.google.com/jlcribber/Pets/photo#5161485775109117554

Can't leave out "Monty". He lives on the floor of the zoo. He protects everyone by

quickly catching and eating any dangerous food bits thrown down by the birds. He eats

very well.

And of course the "delinquents". Tika and Amanda.

I LOVE this thread. Like John, I'm shocked at how "normal" you all are. Crazy bird people my *ss! smile

Here's us: Not great pics because usually I'm the pic taker (and the 2 of me & Neala are self taken in my bathroom).

Yes, even outside the birds are drawn to us! That's me & the hubby at Lido beach here in sunny FL.

My all-time favorite picture of Neala & me (also taken by me in my bathroom). This is the bird that got hit by her last owner because she was too loud and he had migraines. (Yeah, what was he thinking??) She has become an extension of me. I can't even express how much I love her. (Yeah, and trust her too, obviously).

smile Great thread!!

HA HA, she looks just like teal! But I don't even trust him while he is playing on top of his cage right now. I got a little too close on friday and he scraped across my eye and cheek with his beak! I didn't think I was that close.
If I let teal do that he would bite my lips off! LOL

How long did it take for her to come around to you?

With Neala it was about a year before I wasn't afraid of her anymore (because she bit me during the first month and I should have gone for stitches but didn't because I had company over and I knew if I showed fear, they'd never want to come over again). And then it was about another year before we became joined cheek to cheek. I would always throw her kisses (and make the big kissy noise) and all of sudden one day she made that noise back to me. That was the beginning of the love affair right there. Now she IS my life. I adore her. . .and she me. Hang in there with Teal. . .it's SO worth it.

WOW.. we are a knock out bunch LOL.. Hiede I LOVE that pic of you with Teala grabbin your glasses.. great shot!

John, I also had 2 teils prior to owning a too. My first was a yellow one with orange cheeks, I forgot what they are called..sorry. She past away on a forth of july when I was 21 and out partying sadly I didnt know they can go crazy like that and bleed out.. there was blood everywhere =(
It took me about 12 years to get another Teil I soo missed that special bird smell that Teils have.. too's also but not as distinct.. I loved his smell, he went everywhere with us, sang about 4 songs talked and talked, ate with us an basically extension of my daughter and I.. she took it soo hard, both of us did.. My bird loved water and we were fish sitting and since he had full flight and was not put in cage till I go to bed, which is late he decided I guess he wanted water and drowned (my stupidity).. he was only about 18 mos old.. I had to cancel his flight to Florida, it was right before we moved to Fla 3/12 years ago.. I will never forget either of my teils, they were very much loved.
AnyHOO...
I love the fact I can go and see who I am talking with (bookmarking this thread)!! I wonder what Charlie, Janny and Echo's Mom look like. come on guys dont be shy!!!!
Luna I love your glasses.. I wear glasses most of the time, have about 3 pairs, 2 are chewed up on ends.. 1 from conure 1 from Chihauha..LOL
Keep um coming!!

Ok Phil.. WOW I dont know what I was expecting but it was not what I heard.. judging from photo first look and name of band I was thinking along the lines what I was going to hear was..lets see... either head banging (cant deal with that loudness would rather hear a TOO at the top of their lungs..sorry) or along the lines of a different Rock alternative than what I heard.

I was pretty impressed, you all have a snazzy sound to you, VERY unique! Dames is great funny song!
I listen mostly to country and also the your typical pop.
I wish the best of success!

Did you get a chance to see the video to "Dames"?.....That video made it to tv a few months back and is going to be aired on the VH1 series The Pick Up Artists!..We wil be touring the US in the fall with a major artist! We are currently submitting our demo to various Indie labels. believe it or not I use to have very short hair, no tattoos and wore wranglers western shirts and ariat boots! And to top it off I played in a Country Western band! And most of that was REAL COUNTRY, like Merle, George Jones, Johnny Cash etc....... I walked away from that because I got tired of Nashville putting out pop music and trying to sell it as country!!!! I still love traditional, I worked with Dwight Yoakam for a while, not playing drums but other promotional things!!!! As far as The Spider Hole goes we have about 300 kids that are hard core fans!!!! Thank you for your kind words!

Phil, you guys have almost a 'Cramps' sound (http://www.thecramps.com/) to you (but tighter). Love it. I've got your page bookmarked.

Phil,
I'm totally impressed. Know that most of your songs have just been played to a very receptive group here at Lee Memorial Hospital in my lab. My groups ages (med techs, lab assistants and phlebotomists) range from 20 years old to 63 years old and EVERYONE loved your sound! What really got the hair on the back of my neck standing straight up at attention was the song "Statuesque" and the Jim Morrison-type vocal. I am SO a child of the 70's and I kept hearing even Moody-Blue's-ish backgrounds along with your very cool, very unique, very intense sound. Loved it LOVED IT! (Yeah. . .when I was playing the music for the lab I was like "yeah. . I know the guy". . .LOL.
And ok, I'm 52 years old but darnit, I think you're hot too. . even more so now that I've heard your talent. Impressive. . thanks for the link!
sheesh. . and a bird lover too. . . .amazing. smile

John, Neala's not as big as she looks in that picture. It's a bit of an illusion. She's about average size. Although when she's got her attitude on, that beak gets bigger. ..LOL.

Want to see a photo of ONE happy B&G? Check this out:

http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2897814320100034848biyZsS

I pull this toy out for her about once every 4 weeks and she just LOVES it. . .it's one of those mariachi eggs and makes a sound she just loves (as you can see by her "happy eyes") And yes. . supervised only because I'm sure with a little time she could crack that egg easily. . .but we've had it for 5 years now and it's still whole.

I never thought of one of those. Great idea. What about the tamborine without the drum part on it? I bet that would be a good one too.

Heidie-
I love the part about how the beak grows witht heir attitude. That is soo true! LOL

I HAVE THAT EXACT MARIACHI SHAKER! I am good friends with a band here in San Diego (myspace.com/dynamitewalls :P) and they have a few of those for their friends to come up during the last song and play them on stage. I stole one for Kahlua whoops!! I also ended up with one of the bigger ones too...hmm..

Mature HA!.... maybe some day. . .but not today.
Air brush. . .I need one I can carry around with me. I wonder if there's a portable one that'll fit in my purse. ??

I am in Port Charlotte FL so your venue here would most likely be Fort Myers, Sarasota, possibly Miami. I'll be looking for show dates here.

You wont have to worry about that anymore. I dont mind that you wrote the post, but your delivery was all wrong. Someone needs to tell you how to say "please"........"Sorry Charlie" but me and my boys are out of here because if you are the ADMIN and thats the way that you handle things then I would rather go to Quote "thousand other sites to shoot the bull on" unQuote. You could have been a gentlman and sent me a private message but you decided to handle it in a unfriendly way! And post it out in the open I suppose that makes you feel like a big man! When really that was a small man thing to do!

You need to use an "animated GIF" file. The .gif file is already made. You just need to point to it.

LoriB. . I love that you started this thread. Makes the place feel more "homey" somehow and I feel like I know you all a little better. I know it's a serious bird-board and I never want it to become a fluff-board, but this has been nice. Thanks!

My dear, I don't think there are any "normal" people in attendance here. The only thing "strange" about you is that you don't even have a bird, you just want to help. We can use all that kind of "strange" we can get! cool

Yes, what Charlie said! Ditto. We are happy to have you here and strange certainly isn't a word I'd use to describe you. You're very pretty and obviously not afraid to be you and you love our birds. That makes you more than beautiful in my eyes.

Nice lip ring. I have wanted one for 2 years now. That is the only rule I still follow of my parents, being 22. They said, NO lip piercings since they paid all that money for braces. I would get one now that I live in CA, but I am going back in August.... maybe when I am back :P and I am just lazy. Haha

Ahh thank you guys. I'm alright with being different, I just like to warn people ahead of time lol. There's always that random person who just has to be nasty to you for whatever reason.

Anywho.. I found mytoos because I was reading everything about parrots I could find before I adopted my tiels. Some think that's a little silly because tiels are "easy", but I wanted to do the best I could for them. Some day I may take in a larger bird who needs a home, but I'll cross that bridge when (or if) I get to it smile

But I guess I'm one of the minority without a too ^^;
Phew, I'm rambling now >.>

Here is a lovely pic of me and Angel. (LOL) I'm holding onto my shirt because she took all the buttons off and my shirt was sliding off. She likes preening my hair and snipping some off. I'll get a decent pic of me soon! : O

Here's a couple of me. The first one was at my best friend's wedding...man the hairdresser and makeup guy did a good job!!

The other is me and my hubby on our honeymoon New Year's Eve.

I added some new ones of Jappa too. Since the nice weather has hit, she LOVES being outside. I love the first one b/c it doesn't seem like she's in our backyard!! We had to stop putting her in that tree though.....it's starting to lose a BUNCH of branches....

This is really not a glamorous photo, since I'm standing in the muck in a paddock full of horses:

http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o129/Jessie_Z/horsie.jpg

Unfortunately, that's not my horse. I also just realized that the few photos I have of myself almost always contain an animal.

What tree is that she is chewing on?

Are you aware that some woods/leaves are poisons?

Yup, no worries.....we have some cedars in the backyard which she is ALWAYS going for and I snatch her up as quick as I can. We have some Oaks too but she can't get to them.

Here is one of me (CheekyChucki) and my dad (Chucki'sDad) on my wedding day, August 6, 2005. I got married outdoors and unfortunately Chucki couldn't come with us, although I'm certain she would have screamed happily and bounced around during the ceremony, hahaha.

Thank you spinnyspoo! I picked the dress because of the trim, it was just a little bit different and unique (just like me, hahaha).

MsSugarBabe, we are from northwest Ohio, but I also lived in central Ohio for 6 years while attending college and working. How about you?

Super fun thread. Here is one of me and my husband in our yard. We had just finished adding waterfalls and such. We love being outside and the birds enjoy it a lot as well now.

NaniToo -LOVED your pics! That waterfall feature in your backyard is gorgeous! Matches the gorgeousness-factor of your birdies, too! I looked through some of your other pics - you are a great-looking family - and found your sweet son, Jake (I also have a 14-year-old son who is most beloved by my U2 hen Isabella). Did you bake those marvelous-looking cakes in the BD pics? I'm envious of your talent! And snow in SoCal? That must have been fun! Here in sunny (and VERY HOT) Dallas, snow is a rarity, too.

And CheekyChucki - It's nice to put a pretty face to your entertaining posts that I enjoy reading smile!

Thank you Miss YumYum. We really enjoy the yard as we are home all the time. It's hard to get away when you have lots of critters. I did bake those cakes. I love to bake. We are in Lake Elizabeth, CA which is a rural area of Southern CA about an hour from busy Los Angeles. It's lovely to be away from the city. We get a few inches of snow every year but not much. Nice for the birds without neighbors being too close. It's a great place to for kids too.

Hey Nani, I tried googling Lake Elizabeth, but could not find it. I only found one up in SF which... was just a lake!

If you are where I think, I remember when that area got snow. Well, LA got it too!! Hope SD never gets it, that's why I moved 1500 miles from MN. I hate snoowww frown

This is so much fun that I decided to post another pic. After seeing all these pictures of people and thier birds, I realized that I didn't have a single one of Jappa and me. So I took it upon myself to take one, and this is what it turned out like:

http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk164/jesspz/Jappa004.jpg

I'm making that stupid face because I was trying to get a pose from Jappa by making kissing noises....I guess it worked.

MsSugarBabe: I'm assuming you were talking about the Canadian flag?! Ya, it's one of my favourites!! Just don't mind the wilting plants in front of it. They're better now!

They wanted to test my brain when I was little. The machine chugged away for a while. It let out a puff of smoke and spit out a paper slip that said "Error!" Is that good or bad?

Great pic, April - two cute kids and breathtaking scenery! Is that Mt. McKinley in the background? We took a trip to Alaska in the summer of 2005, and were lucky enough to see Mt. McKinley clearly the day we were in Denali National park. Our tour guide said that such a clear view was rare.

Thank you all. Yes that is Denali as we Alaskans call it. Clear views are extremely rare. The mountain makes its on weather and it is often not pretty.

Betty people do say that my son and I look alike but I think that he looks more like my brother. My brother is a bean pole and so is David. Sophie looks just like her dad. It is funny because I had to leave Alaska to go visit my grandmother because of bad health and when I got back 2 weeks later I was pregnant. It was a on going joke between us and when Sophie was born everyone said that there is no dening that my hubbie was the father. There was no doubt it was just funny.

Alaska is cold but where I live we have wind gust up to 80mph some nights and that is what kills us. We are hoping to move into Anchorage which isn't that windy and we would be able to have a house with a livingroom and a Den and then I would have one room that I could dedicate to the birds. There is so much that I would like to do for them but I can't really do it in an 1100sqft house. Just no room. I want to set a play room where they don't have to be in their cages or have to sit on their cages. I want trees and ropes and all kinds of stuff. Something to work towards.

April - I know waht you mean about a small area. I'm in a 2bed/2bath apt and I believe it's 1017sq ft. It seems tooo small, but he goes in most rooms with me. Also goes outside a lot and on the balcony! I might make my bedroom, in a corner, into a ropey play area. I just mad a PVC gym with my mom this week while i'm in MN to put in a corner in my bedroom for now... I am sure Kahlua will hate it at first, blah.

I wish Kahlua would teach Sammy how to use a boing. He thinks it's evil.

Oh he loves his boing!!!! It took awhile for him to get on it though, but now is on it most of the time I am home... I bring it from my living room into my bedroom. Hopefully I won't have to now that I have the new gym..

Sammy wasn't afraid of much when he was little (except spray bottles, which he tries to kill, and shower perches, never could get him on one of those), but the older he gets, the more he seems to think anything new is evil, especially if it's bigger than he is.

Here is my one & only decent picture (pre-children). It is about 5 years old but it still resembles me. LOL Add some wrinkles, grey hair and chop off my hair.

Oh yea--I'd like to print out EVERYONE'S picture and make an album of EXCEPTIONAL people. So if anyone here is in a Witness Protection Program or just doesn't want to be in my album (and make me cry) state your case. : )

You can try and print my picture. It's been known to crack a mirror or two. I hope your printer doesn't puke when it gets to mine. laugh

BRITTNEY & ROBBY SITTING IN A TREE

Robby & Brittney flew over the cuckoo's nest.

"sitting in a tree" "cuckoo's nest"? talk about bird brained.

God loved the birds and created trees. Man loved the birds and created cages.

This is a really cool thread! I was wondering if we could get some new pics as I don't really see a lot of these people on here much...
