You've already seen My ugly mug.
http://picasaweb.google.com/jlcribber/Pets/photo#5161502521186605506

Some notable zoo members.

This was our very first bird "Scummo". He died of old age right in my hand in 2005 at

the age of 23. This was a text book cockatiel. Got him at around 15 weeks old. Never

lived in a cage. Free flighted his entire life. He is responsible for my "bird brain

fever". We had him creamated. He now lives in a beautiful chinese vase on the mantle.

These 2 are presently living in the zoo. Squeaky (blue, male) is 9 yrs old now. Whitey

(white, female) is 8 yrs old. They met when they were 1 and 2. The female is sterile and

never layed an egg. They are inseparable.

http://picasaweb.google.com/jlcribber/Pets/photo#5161484400719582530

This poor soul came to us with severe health problems. 17 yrs old. Very abused.

Providing details would just make me cry. Again. She was only with us for a couple of

months. She too died in my hand. Her name was "Buddy" because the owner had no idea she

was a female. We called her "Buddygirl". That bird and that !*&%@! owner changed my

life. I've been a fanatic ever since. I just want everyone to see her and be remembered.

I only had a chance to get 1 picture of her.

Can't leave out "Monty". He lives on the floor of the zoo. He protects everyone by

quickly catching and eating any dangerous food bits thrown down by the birds. He eats

very well.

And of course the "delinquents". Tika and Amanda.

I LOVE this thread. Like John, I'm shocked at how "normal" you all are. Crazy bird people my *ss! smile

Here's us: Not great pics because usually I'm the pic taker (and the 2 of me & Neala are self taken in my bathroom).

Yes, even outside the birds are drawn to us! That's me & the hubby at Lido beach here in sunny FL.

My all-time favorite picture of Neala & me (also taken by me in my bathroom). This is the bird that got hit by her last owner because she was too loud and he had migraines. (Yeah, what was he thinking??) She has become an extension of me. I can't even express how much I love her. (Yeah, and trust her too, obviously).

smile Great thread!!

HA HA, she looks just like teal! But I don't even trust him while he is playing on top of his cage right now. I got a little too close on friday and he scraped across my eye and cheek with his beak! I didn't think I was that close.
If I let teal do that he would bite my lips off! LOL

How long did it take for her to come around to you?

With Neala it was about a year before I wasn't afraid of her anymore (because she bit me during the first month and I should have gone for stitches but didn't because I had company over and I knew if I showed fear, they'd never want to come over again). And then it was about another year before we became joined cheek to cheek. I would always throw her kisses (and make the big kissy noise) and all of sudden one day she made that noise back to me. That was the beginning of the love affair right there. Now she IS my life. I adore her. . .and she me. Hang in there with Teal. . .it's SO worth it.

Neala looks like a big girl. Judging by that beak.

WOW.. we are a knock out bunch LOL.. Hiede I LOVE that pic of you with Teala grabbin your glasses.. great shot!

John, I also had 2 teils prior to owning a too. My first was a yellow one with orange cheeks, I forgot what they are called..sorry. She past away on a forth of july when I was 21 and out partying sadly I didnt know they can go crazy like that and bleed out.. there was blood everywhere =(
It took me about 12 years to get another Teil I soo missed that special bird smell that Teils have.. too's also but not as distinct.. I loved his smell, he went everywhere with us, sang about 4 songs talked and talked, ate with us an basically extension of my daughter and I.. she took it soo hard, both of us did.. My bird loved water and we were fish sitting and since he had full flight and was not put in cage till I go to bed, which is late he decided I guess he wanted water and drowned (my stupidity).. he was only about 18 mos old.. I had to cancel his flight to Florida, it was right before we moved to Fla 3/12 years ago.. I will never forget either of my teils, they were very much loved.
AnyHOO...
I love the fact I can go and see who I am talking with (bookmarking this thread)!! I wonder what Charlie, Janny and Echo's Mom look like. come on guys dont be shy!!!!
Luna I love your glasses.. I wear glasses most of the time, have about 3 pairs, 2 are chewed up on ends.. 1 from conure 1 from Chihauha..LOL
Keep um coming!!

Ok Phil.. WOW I dont know what I was expecting but it was not what I heard.. judging from photo first look and name of band I was thinking along the lines what I was going to hear was..lets see... either head banging (cant deal with that loudness would rather hear a TOO at the top of their lungs..sorry) or along the lines of a different Rock alternative than what I heard.

I was pretty impressed, you all have a snazzy sound to you, VERY unique! Dames is great funny song!
I listen mostly to country and also the your typical pop.
I wish the best of success!

Well thank you very much! The band is doing very well! Did you get a chance to see the video to "Dames"?.....That video made it to tv a few months back and is going to be aired on the VH1 series The Pick Up Artists!..We wil be touring the US in the fall with a major artist! We are currently submitting our demo to various Indie labels. believe it or not I use to have very short hair, no tattoos and wore wranglers western shirts and ariat boots! And to top it off I played in a Country Western band! And most of that was REAL COUNTRY, like Merle, George Jones, Johnny Cash etc....... I walked away from that because I got tired of Nashville putting out pop music and trying to sell it as country!!!! I still love traditional, I worked with Dwight Yoakam for a while, not playing drums but other promotional things!!!! As far as The Spider Hole goes we have about 300 kids that are hard core fans!!!! Thank you for your kind words!

Phil, you guys have almost a 'Cramps' sound (http://www.thecramps.com/) to you (but tighter). Love it. I've got your page bookmarked.

Phil,
I'm totally impressed. Know that most of your songs have just been played to a very receptive group here at Lee Memorial Hospital in my lab. My groups ages (med techs, lab assistants and phlebotomists) range from 20 years old to 63 years old and EVERYONE loved your sound! What really got the hair on the back of my neck standing straight up at attention was the song "Statuesque" and the Jim Morrison-type vocal. I am SO a child of the 70's and I kept hearing even Moody-Blue's-ish backgrounds along with your very cool, very unique, very intense sound. Loved it LOVED IT! (Yeah. . .when I was playing the music for the lab I was like "yeah. . I know the guy". . .LOL.
And ok, I'm 52 years old but darnit, I think you're hot too. . even more so now that I've heard your talent. Impressive. . thanks for the link!
sheesh. . and a bird lover too. . . .amazing. smile

John, Neala's not as big as she looks in that picture. It's a bit of an illusion. She's about average size. Although when she's got her attitude on, that beak gets bigger. ..LOL.

Want to see a photo of ONE happy B&G? Check this out:

http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2897814320100034848biyZsS

I pull this toy out for her about once every 4 weeks and she just LOVES it. . .it's one of those mariachi eggs and makes a sound she just loves (as you can see by her "happy eyes") And yes. . supervised only because I'm sure with a little time she could crack that egg easily. . .but we've had it for 5 years now and it's still whole.

I never thought of one of those. Great idea. What about the tamborine without the drum part on it? I bet that would be a good one too.

Heidie-
I love the part about how the beak grows witht heir attitude. That is soo true! LOL
Here are some of teal (with a little bit of Ellie mixed in)!

I HAVE THAT EXACT MARIACHI SHAKER! I am good friends with a band here in San Diego (myspace.com/dynamitewalls :P) and they have a few of those for their friends to come up during the last song and play them on stage. I stole one for Kahlua whoops!! I also ended up with one of the bigger ones too...hmm..
