...hi too lovers. Michelle here with possum and "another" concern. OK.... possums been doing really well with the ole switcha-roo from seed to pellet. I have bought harrions course pellets, zupreem fruit pellets(cockatiel size) and roudybush crumbles. So I have my green-cheek eating the zupreem pretty well now also, so I put in a little of his fruit pellets to possum. He seems to like this tiny size pellet. I sometimes see him chowing on them, and the little red beak gives it away smile Today I bought the roudybush crumbles, thinking OK he likes the small stuff, he may like this. I'll let ya know if he likes it in a few days, as I just put some in.
So hes offered the veggie/bean/rice mix in the morning and the pellets, and 1 oz. of seed (cockatiel mix.NO sunflower seeds) So when I put this bowl fresh with the pellet seed mixture he usually dives for it smile But I am noticing he is scooting around in the bowl eating all the seeds. <UGH> So my question is: Should I "out" the seed altogether????? I want to give him variety and I have been reading that a little seed is OK. I am puzzled.....HELP! (is much appreciated) laugh

The way I give them some seed is I give it in the evenings. Ideally, no seeds if you can. I believe they do better with a variety of feed. They get 30% pellets, 60% fruit/veggies, 10% in0shell nuts and seed.

I do the same as Elliot. Cassie gets her bean veggie mix in the mornings and her seed nut pasta mix in the late afternoons. She has pellets available 24/7. Nancy

Possums mum, I had a bit of the same problem but it was birdy bread... Could you believe Leah was picking the tiny little flax seeds out of the birdy bread and leaving the rest of the bread on the floor? She wolfs this batch whole now that I made it with string cut carrots instead of the flax seeds.

Maybe you can keep the seeds down to training time? Like rewards to reinforce good behaviour like going into the cage when you want him to, stepping up, other tricks (waving!! <3 <3)

You can try mixing the pellets with other foods the birds like...applesauce...oatmeal, etc.
