Hi Guys. I'm fairly new here and wanted to ask; The rescues listed on this site, are they rescues that have been checked out and found to be legitimate? Another words rescues supported by MYTOOS.com. I would like to donate, but want to be sure of who I'm donating to. I currently donate to Puppymillrescue.com and our local animal shelter, but I'm not familiar with the bird rescues and who is who. Thanks in advance. Elaine.

I can't speak for Mytoos as far as checking these rescues out, but I do know that some of the rescues on the list have been thoroughly checked out by another group of people. Raven's Haven & Foster Parrots are great!

There are more rescues that have been thoroughly evalutated by that group that aren't on the Mytoos list. I feel confident that they are worthy of donations. Bird Love Avian Sanctuary and Project Perry are great.

Speaking up on my own, I know All Cape Parrot Rescue is wonderful. I've heard good things about Mollywood, but have no first-hand experience with them. I've corresponded via email and phone with Shyne Foundation and they're wonderful also. I plan on evaluating them personally once we've all recovered a bit more from the past couple years of hurricanes.

I will never suggest to anyone that they support Bird Placement Program (BPP). That's just my opinion, but I very rarely have anything negative to say - especially about a "rescue". I believe a "rescue" should always have the best interest of the birds at heart. I'll leave it with that.

I hope everyone who posts here decides to donate something to a rescue. I am witness to the fact that even if a small number of people donate small amounts individually, it adds up to something big. smile
