There is an article in the October issue of birdtalk on sexual behavior. It goes to say that Macaws in particular will pluck a brood patch. This means they will only pluck it s chest feathers. Also the fact that a female that doesn't want to copulate will fly away in the wild but in captivity will most likely be killed by the male.
