Natalie, I was wondering the same thing. I hope we havent lost his presence here and it's just something temporary. I would expect that Jerry or Mona would make some announcement if it were otherwise. But the read only format thing has me nervous???? confused

Dr. Mike had back surgery not long ago.I suspect it has something to do with that.I've not heard very many people say they are happy with the results when they go cutting on your spine. My husband has the same type of problem but won't let them touch him with a knife.Just lots of pain medication.I do hope he is alright. He really knows his stuff and I love to read his advice.

I sent Dr. Mike a gift basket and an old aviculture book. It was my way of saying thanks for the time and energy he put into all his posts. I posted to ask him if he had received the gift and my post was removed. I don't know when it became a crime to thank someone for giving of their time and energy but I was very pleased to get a note from Dr. Mike telling me how much he appreciated the book and gift basket.

ZazuSally, I don't think it was a crime either butperhaps it was in the wrong place and therefore was appropriately removed since it wasn't a vet question. That is the reason we have all these other places and the moderators do a great and often thankless job.

Due to Dr Mikes personal problems and the fact that when he DID manage to check out the board, I wanted to save him from having to sift through many unnecessary posts and have his valuable time concerned with only the most important ones.

We HAVE had several people post questions there that any experienced parrot owner could have answered lately, and so I removed those posts to other forums also. Again, I was trying to save Dr Mike from having to weed through all those posts.

We sometimes have to work in mysterious ways here and unless you get an e-mail from me or the moderators saying otherwise... then you havent done anything so serious as to have to worry about it. We stay so busy that we cant explain every move we often make.

We have the Bat signal out for Dr Mike right now and until I hear from him, I closed his forum until further notice. Hopefully he'll be able to return soon.

Oh, GOD! i just hope he is ok! in my heart, i don't think he would just abandon us, i know he wouldnt. i think if we were overwhelming him, (and i'm sorry if i did in any way), he would have let us know. he is a proffesional. all these are reasons i'm EXTREMELY worried! Jerry, please let us know what is going on ASAP!

thanx, linda2
