Well, Dad tried to take me for a ride today on that old motorcycle he named after me, but that thing is too noisy! When he started it up, I didn't like it at all! I'm supposed to be loud and obnoxious too, but I don't think I'm THAT bad! Once he turned it off, we had fun in the sun anyway! The handlebars are cool! And the leather looks REAL Chewable! I hope you enjoy my slide show adventure! VROOM VROOM! TooHog Heaven

Nice Softtail Harley's Dad!
Someday I will get my M2, and I know for a fact my M2 will NOT be louder than my husband's Dyna Super Glide...(Had to hot rod it, all I know is my windows vibrate whenever he starts the thing!)

Matthew says the birds go wild when I pull up on my bike, too. It's a rather rickety 10-speed mountain bike with a 2-toddler trailer that converts to a stroller <img border="0" alt="[laughing]" title="" src="graemlins/laugh[1].gif" /> . Don't know whether they hear the squeaky pedals, or the rattling trailer.

Hi, TLL.. Yep. VERY loud. Both of them. I like to ride through downtown Nevada City CA on a Saturday when all the tourists are in town. 2nd gear 25 miles an hour sets off ANY alarm! Fun for an old guy...Speaking of old guys... Woody's kid was a no brainer for me, jm47.. I still have the RECORD with that song on it! AND a turntable to play it! You can STILL get anything you want at Alice's.. Maybe some oil for your bike.

For Vondooly - "Woody" Guthrie was Arlo's dad.Rather obscure conversation for anyone under 50.
BE2Cassie.. IT started out as a 1987 soft tail custom. Now has lots of "Fat Boy" stuff added plus a little work on the engine...Hee Hee.. The best thing I've used it for lately is a perch for the other Harley. He seems to like it in the morning sun. Lotsa Happy Dancin' going on as long as I keep the motor quiet!

Rented a Fatboy in Florida this winter. Was a bit bulky for me I'm only 5'3" So I will stick to my sportster. I lucked out with mine it was customized when I bought it. Mother of pearl paint with turquoise design and all the chrome it can hold. I refuse to grow old I bought it last summer at 50, didnt get my bike license until I was 48! I have always wanted a Harley. Had to be conservative until my son grew up. Now I'm bad to the bone! LOL I do turn heads when I drive it to work through one of the worst neighborhoods in Boston. Most people don't know what to make of an old lady on a harley, they just sort of stare until I say hi. I refuse to grow old, just starting my second childhood! Happy & safe riding. Nancy

Loved it! And way to go, Nancy! I wish the kids would grow up so I could go get one. We have a '57 Panhead here, but there is no way I will ever drive that bike- I could just see me dumping it wink .I do kick it over if Tony is feeling too tired, and that alone gets some looks- no electric start here! I think I'll wait until I get my own to attempt driving. I wish I could get pics of Raven or Skoke, my CAG, on it, but I don't know how well that would go over, lol! Beautiful bike, and Harley looks like he's loving the "ride"!

BE2 - You've got guts at 5'3 renting a Fat Boy! Glad you tried it, though. LOVE the sportster story. I am from Mass and when I go home for reunions, I rent a Harley in New Hampshire near the beach for a few days. Got the ultimate Ultra Glide in Kauai last October!
Thanks, Heide. The little white one is being LOUD right now. Past his bedtime and I still have the light on! Shame Shame!
Umbie! I was in Penn Valley last weekend on the Big Harley! One thing I've learned being on MyToos is the world is definitely small... and the people are wonderful!
Chewy! You got it! great song, great times. Too bad Nancy is so YOUNG... She'd remember too!
Ayers... No - I do have electric start. But NO Reverse...I paid my dues starting with a 1957 Matchless (Let's see who's REALLY old out there..) and most of my bikes have bean kickers..
Thanks, all, for a trip down memory lane and a fun time talking about Birds and Bikes! My Little White Wonder is really Kicking up a fuss so I'll sign off now! Beddy Bye Time for this Too..

My hubby's Grandpa decided, many years ago (probably in his 60s or 70s) that he needed a motorcycle. He bought one, I'm not sure what kind (I married into the family when Grandpa was about 80) and told Grandma it was her birthday present. She got him a sewing machine for his next birthday wink . It became a tradition for him to announce that he wanted to "borrow her bike" to go somewhere, and she would ask his permission to use the sewing machine. He quit riding about the time he was 90, but she used the machine for a while after he died at 97. Both are gone now, and sadly missed.

edit: she used the SEWING machine laugh

Nancy you're a woman after my own heart.I turned 52 in April and started riding a little Rebel last year just to learn.Hubby told me how the gears worked and to ride it around the block a few times.WELL an hour or so later I came back home and had been all over town.Had a ball.In Oct we bought a Boss Hoss trike,a '32 coupe with a 350 Chevy engine,385 HP and now that is what I drive.Your right about the stares. Some think it's funny and some are just amazed.I wouldn't take anything for it.I've always ridden behind hubby and had no idea what I was missing. You go girl!!!!! laugh laugh

HOLY S--T!!!!! Even my hubby is shocked! I had to google the boss hoss never have seen one. You should try to post pic. How fast have you gone on it? Isn't it addicting. I've always wanted to ride but just can't ride on the back of a bike. Got the life scared out of me when I was 16 by my Dads' friend. Think it was intentional. Dad never wanted me on a bike. LOL. If he could see me now! Do you live somewhere that you can ride year round? I'm in MA so I'm limited. Plus I can't ride it to work during the weekdays. Work in Boston and the traffic is hell. Enjoy and you go girl! Have you joined WOW? Nancy

Wow, Way Cool, more women riders! I learned about 5 years ago. Started on a Sportster and graduated to a Victory Vegas a couple years ago. You go girls!

Bri

(EDIT) I forgot to mention - Hubby works at a Motorcycle shop here in town. Last summer a customer brought his Boss in for work - I couldn't believe how BIG it was. Never seen a trike though - post a pic PLEASE, preferably one with you ON IT! wink
