My late G2 liked meat, also. Any meat. We had a avian certified vet who thought it had been a good thing to give him some meat occasionally. He never plucked and never had any personality disorders.
I just read an article (can't refind it!) about some Australian aviculturists will turn mice loose to let their cockatoos eat them. I did find a few articles about feeding GangGangs pinkie mice and such.
One is here: http://www.parrotsociety.org.au/
go to articles, scroll to Cockatoo Talk.
The following quote comes from Old World Aviaries' site http://www.oldworldaviaries.com/text/lewis/gang-gang.html
"Gang Gangs need animal protein, lest they pluck and self-mutilate. Australian aviculturists who have Gang Gangs regularly feed chicken, pinkie mice, and other sources of animal protein."
And this site http://www.thomasriver.co.za/parrots/mmc.htm
talks about feeding Major Mitchells pinkies or grubs.
Really, what are insects if not animal protein? So lean bits of meat might not be out of place for 'too diets. (I knew they were tiny T. Rexes!!) <img border="0" alt="[laughing]" title="" src="graemlins/laugh.gif" />
