The last few summers I'm been having probs with fruit flies along with alot of other people. This year they are hanging around Bogees cage I try not to leave the food in the cage all the time. My question is the flies keep Bogee busy cuz he likes to chase them but when he gets one he eats it are they bad for him I know birds eat bugs in the whild so I was just wondering

I have a problem with those annoying little bugs every summer too, they won't hurt him, but if you want to see a discussion about them and ideas about getting rid of them click HERE .

I spoke to a colleague, a geneticist who raises fruit flies, and asked him how to eliminate them. He can't use chemicals - they would kill his stocks, so he is in the same boat as bird keepers. He has a cheap and simple method that he swears by. Get a soda bottle (empty) and put some banana peels in the bottom (fruit flies love these). Get a short stemmed funnel and place it in the mouth of the bottle, stem down. The flies will fly down the funnel into the bottle, but they will not be able to find their way out. No chemicals, just bottles of fruit flies. Works for him.
