I often wonder about of the members from here, especially from my early days; how they are, do they still rescue, do they still post quite regularly, how they are etc.
I know some of them I irritated quite a lot, and no wonder, I irritate myself looking back at some of the drink fueled drivel I posted at times! blush
Only a few names will come to mind now (isn't that always the case) yet a few days ago, I remembered loads!
Anyway, Liviray, Mona, M2Mom, Hello(erm...Baby?) Ronpac, ..
I know there's loads more, would love to see them all again smile

When I look through the post from the early days of Mytoos, I often wonder the same thing myself.

I find it also annoying when people join then post 20 or so interesting messages then disappear. It would be nice if there was some follow-up, concerning how the bird progressed after the immediate problem was fixed. Has the problem went away permanently, has it relapsed, what other things have been going on with the bird.

I suppose the feeling is greatest for me when I think about my What a difference post, back in the late 90's when the World Wide Web was very young, I joined the first generation of on-line parrot owner communities. There were many new bird owners with birds younger than three years, I often wonder if any of them still have their birds. I wonder where the birds/people are today.

I'm one of those old farts. We still have our two little birds (neither of which is a cockatoo, but the advice I got here always worked with the smaller birds, too. We've moved several times, and health and financial issues have gotten in the way of my continuing to spend hours daily n computer. (yeah, I'm not a fast typist) I do still read here, but not nearly as often.
Lots of us still communicate with each other on facebook, too.

I think we were talking about who haven't posted in years. Or, I was talking about people who have a short spurt of post then disappear.

You posted almost 30 times in 2014 and I was too lazy to count your post from '13.

PS on second thought, I noticed that you have been kinda quite for 8 months. I just noticed all your '15 post were on the same day.

Specialist Elbru there are thousands of people who have come on and left after just a posting or two over the years. Wishful's post was in regards to the old timers here like JM47 and so many others that are still here reading and posting when they have something to offer.
There are quite a few members that are still active after being here for 8, 10 or more years a member.

Wishful. You never irritated anyone. I always loved hearing from you. I'm also one who has been a little absent. Sometimes, especially when I lose my password I don't post for awhile. I always check in when I have a spare minute. Am going to try to be a little more present. As we get older it's harder to get any spare time as we deal with aging in laws and health issues. Always love to reconnect t though with my my good family

A lot of our "Where are they now?" posters are represented in the "Rainbow Bridge" forum. This worries me and makes me sad. I know their hearts have been broken and they are missing some important pieces of their hearts now. I often want to go and light perpetual candles for those friend-birds we have lost, those heart-birds. These things just knock the stuffings out of you...

Those birds are not forgotten. Not by the posters. Not by me.

The effect is cumulative, however. It saps the energy. It becomes hard to attempt to explain things. Solve things. Share things. It's even too hard to see the joy most of the time. Even the nice wild bird stuff. We do check in now and then.

P.S. Heck, Mike & Ike just checked in below! Read that thread to see why they "checked out." A frequent reason, no doubt.

http://www.mytoos.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=258402#Post258402

I know I am running a bird jail... I don't have the energy to debate the fact right now. I don't even care to.

During my recent "in between jobs" time, I read a lot of old Mytoos.com post. I would often find myself following particular users so that I could watch there journey as a bird caretaker. To do this I would click the "view post" link then read the users oldest posts first followed by later post.

When following a user, I would make a mental note to check if they stopped posting altogether shortly after starting a new thread on the "rainbow bridge" forum.

"Mike & Ike" was a user that I followed, defiantly a user that caused me to think, "Where are they now?". I guess I did not read the "Budgies in a cockatoo cage" thread, and all the contention in it.

PS. reading that one thread brought to mind lots of "Where are they now"s.

I joined Mytoos when I found my much-loved galah Rocky years ago. He had an injured wing and needed some TLC. I appreciated the sense of community that Mytoos offered at the time.
Apart from learning how to live together we haven't had any hurdles to overcome. He's still a shining light in my life and we happily co-exist along with a rescue greyhound, 2 budgies no-one wanted and a very old border collie.
I still visit Mytoos from time to time and am full of admiration for those members who stick around and help, help, help... You're made of better stuff than me.

I've been wondering what has happened to those that are not around too. The last couple of years seems to be very lean. I may not post or respond but I'm here every day.

I think many connect on Facebook or other social media sites. There are still quite a few of us older folks that stop by daily to see what's up. Over the years the board has gone quiet or slowed down for awhile and then got busy again.

I read daily as I have Mytoos as my homepage. Just don't post often. All is well here with Lily and Kita.

I pop in daily also and read posts, but don't always post unless I have something to say. I think a lot of people do keep in touch by Facebook...but I am not one of those and never will be, as I do not do any of the social medias. I have gained a lot of knowledge from these forums and hope I have offered some in return.

I read the posts mainly. I don't usually post unless I'm having an issue with my U2 or I see something that maybe I've experienced with my bird, and could share.

I read posts on here nearly every day, but like most only post if I'm having a problem.
Love reading every comment on here and do think it's a fab ethical board with lots of knowledgable people on it.
My birds Zizou galah and Ronnie BF Amazon are doing fine and Ronnie has come on leaps and bounds.

I still check in and read. I'm not on the computer much these days though. I use mobile for the most part these days since I'm always on the go until bed time. Lol

Guilty as charged.

Raising twin children, building a 60 foot wooden boat ( no not an ark, and my name is not Noah!) then renovating houses while trying to make a living, all get in the way of having free time to go online.

Still have the birds, still have the kids, still have a sense of humor.

And now, we rescued FOUR cockatoos from Greyhaven Rescue who is trying to deal with the giant mess of the now defunct World Parrot Refuge closing in Coombs BC leaving over five hundred fifty large parrots, Macaws and Cockatoos without a home.

We are really go to need the advice that our long term members are going to be able to offer.

Thanks for continuing to be here for us.
