My too 'Penny' is loosing feathers on her chest while gaining them back on her legs. She is not stressed at all, she has a boyfriend and many galahs and Alexandrian to keep her company - she is happy. I feel it is not PBFD as her beak is fine.
A friend told me that Dr Harry put an oil on his bird and the feathers all grew back - have you ever heard of this?

PS Can't be PBFD as the feather growth is much different than the pics on the net.
help Peter and Penny

Get a vet check.

May be Penny is plucking her chest, but let the vet real what it is.

Never heard about any type of oil.

There are so many possibilities plucking, illness, toxic reaction to something, hormonal etc. The only way you will know for sure is by having complete blood tests done. Please let us know, keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers.

I agree a complete Avian Vet check is in order to rule everything out. Please don't put any oils on your cockatoo's feathers.I only use what my Avian Vet approves of on my flock.Never take any chances.
