I can't for the life of me believe how much this M2 touched my life in the little time I knew her. Things progressed rapidly for Buddy and with all her underlying problems she was put to rest today.I took her in to my local vet after speaking to the U of S Vets and it was agreed this was a kinder justice to be done. My heart is aching because I wanted to make everything better for her but it was just too late. All I was doing was prolonging her life and agony.

Fly free Buddy join all the other feathered birdies that have crossed over before you! Love you!Rest and enjoy...

Jan you tried and gave her love she so needed in the end. I'm sure she's flying happy and free and showering you with love from above.
No more pain and suffering and in her full feathered beauty.

Rest in peace, Buddy! You suffered a long time and you died in the caring and love of those few that understand. I'm so sorry, Jan.

I am so sorry Janny. Buddy was loved and touched your heart in the brief time you knew each other. She is not suffering any longer, and what you did was the kind thing to do.

Buddy, I will never forget you. There is absolutely no excuse for what you endured in your life. Fly happy and free from the injustices mankind has done to you. You are in a better place.

Fly free and whole once more, precious angel! You touched many lives and I know you knew love with Janny! (((Janny))) you did the best you could and had to make a very difficult decision - Buddy's life ended in peace and in love. Thank you for being there! I am so sorry you had to go through this with that sweet baby, may she rest in peace!

I'm so sorry to hear about this Janny. Buddy didn't deserve to live that way and I know you tried your best. Rest in Peace, Buddy.

I can only imagine your pain. My heart is breaking that she lived through so much hell at the hands of humans. She went peacefully beyond with love from you; you saved her sweet soul from suffering.
So sorry Janny...

I had really hoped for some miracle for this bird but it really never looked that good from the beginning. At least she had some comfort and love to help mitigate what had to be a very painful existence. In the end you did the right thing even though it had to be very painful for you. Bless you for taking this girl into your home and heart and may she fly free in peace.

I really hate to ask this but... will a necropsy be done on Buddy to determine exactly what was going on with her?

If only that other birds just like Buddy may benefit.

My apologies if this sounds cold it is not intended to.

It just seems all the more tragic if nothing is learned after Buddy paid the ultimate price for life in captivity.

I asked if they wanted to do a necropsy on Buddy and they actually declined...they said unless I felt my birds were at risk or subjected to something it really wasn't necessary. I would have gladly had one done and that was my thinking too "it could help someone else down the road" but they did not think it was necessary so I didn't argue.

I thank everyone for the sympathies and kindness you have shown me as this was a very hard decision. Yesterday morning just confirmed there was more going on than expected. He had a couple of convulsions that really had me break as well. It could have been from his liver functions or lack of vitamins...aren't sure if there was some neurological disorder as well.We just felt after talking at length that there was too many odds against her and it was best to let go than to have her suffer any longer. She also had some tremor activity in the legs once and a while and wings. She would hold out a leg and at first I thought she was stretching it but then the leg would shake and she would be rather zoned out.

They didn't feel that a surgery for her was very possible to help heal that wound because of how deep it went and they certainly couldn't pack it with anything even her own tissue because there wasn't allot left.I knew in my heart this was going to be the outcome but hearing it and validating it hurt.I felt like a complete failure that I was not able to do a thing but end her life of suffering.I still feel that way periodically and I knew it was love that helped make the final decision but I still feel like I let her down some way. I will probably struggle with it for a while...not sure.

I did however contact the SPCA.Not sure that they will do much but I emailed them all the pictures of what shape Buddy was in and gave them the Vet's Name and number if they wanted a report. I hope they do something because I have found that June is also a breeder of Cairn Terriers and has a website for her breeding. I am not sure how she is with her dogs but I thought it worth looking into anyway. I am not sure if they will press charges or even look into it at this point.

I am so very sorry, words cant even express....

She is flying free now, and your love helped to set her free. I believe she was brought into your life for a reason. How long would her suffering have continued if not for you. You truly set her soul free, and for that she will carry your love with her forever!

I will remember her sad story forever. Her pictures are etched in my mind and heart. Thank you Janny for caring enough to do what was right for her, and sharing her story with us. She will not be forgotten.

Fly free Buddy! I'm sorry for all the pain that the people in your life put you through. You deserved so much better, on all levels. Honestly, everyone simply failed you. I know you were met at the Bridge by many of our loved ones who we've lost.

Oh Janny, I am so so sorry. It doesn't take long to fall in love with a cockatoo. You did all you could for her. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and Buddy today.
