Flaking and peeling of a parrots beak is a normal process - just like our own fingernails flake and peel.
The tip of the beak may have been broken off by chewing, especially if it was overgrown. Not sure what you mean by her beak being shaded. As the beak peels, the new growth underneath can be darker in color as it's hasn't accumulated powder down.
