Hello. My name is Angie and I just purchased my first Cockatoo on Wednesday April 8. She is the sweetest baby ever. She is 5 1/2 years old. I do have some large parrot experience since I worked at a pet store that specialized in Large parrots for 5 years. I knew I wanted a U2 from the beginning.... I didn't want to rush into it. I wanted to wait untill I had enough time to devote to her. My daughters are 15 and 17, and are almost never home. I was feeling the "empty nest" syndrome so now was the time to adopt my last child.
I just wanted to introduce myself and my family. Oh, her name was Precious but she only answers to Baby.....so that is her new name. She talks alot and loves to be cuddled. She is almost perfect.

Hi Angie, and welcome.

Cockatoos definitely need a lot of time, love, and attention. My U2, Rocco, is 4 1/2, and gets all of my spare time.

I don't know if you've explored the site extensively, but you may want to check out this link.

Welcome Angie.

Please be careful with how much attention you lavish on Baby. She will get to used to it and get really p.o. when you can't keep it up. At 5.5 years she is getting into hormone time and this can be difficult.

Read a lot and ask a lot.

BTW, I have a 21 y.o U2.

Thank you. You are right Elliott, she is very hormonal right now. I knew this when I purchased her. It is something we will get thru together. Notice I said she is "almost" perfect. LOL.

Angie

Welcome, I have a U2 thaat is about 18 now I think. She is very hormonal right now. In the 2 years I have had her, this is about the worst I've seen it. Best of luck and welcome!
