What a curious bird. I'm against breeding obviously but am curious if this was something they were trying for or not.

That's a feather duster Budgie, if you google that, you'll find more info about them. They don't normally live a full long life.

This is a feather duster.....it isnt something they do on purpose. They dont live very long. I was given one some time ago, he was the light of my life....I kept him alive about 7 or 8 months. I had to cut his feathers around his vent every couple days so his droppings didnt get all stuck and I clipped the feathers around his eyes so he could see. I miss him every day.

Oh my gosh. Thanks for the info guys, I had no idea that these poor guys even were around, I'm not up on my budgies, but how sad that their life is so short and why would someone breed them? Heck for that matter why do they breed any of them.

Aww Mom2 I'm so very sorry to hear about your poor guy. I'm read up on them now.

Oh feather dusters are so sad
I don't know if it's a result of inbreeding or just chance. I don't think anybody tries to breed them though, they die very quickly and probably don't feel well for most of their lives

When I first clicked on your link to view the video, I thought at first it was a green leafy vegetable! Then I about fell out of my chair when I realized that was the bird!

It is the first time I see a duster budgie. I didn't know that about them. How sad I hope they don't brred them
