Hi, I have a question.. again..lol.
I have read in the boards here about Harisson's oatmeal, rice's and such.No one around here carries I will have to order online. Anyone know the best place to purchase?
Yesterday when talking to my neighbor who has a child said she has tons of extra boxes f baby cereal. Oatmeal, rice, brown rice. Is this safe for the bird? I read you feed regular oatmeal so I am thinking ok but wanted to check first. Thank you!

Be very careful with cereals, especially children's cereals, as most of them are fortified with vitamins and minerals your bird does not need and that may even be harmful in large quantities such as iron and zinc. Pure oats should be okay as are other grains like rice and corn (grits). More nutritious grains include quinoa and amaranth.

Baby cereals are also processed more than whole grains and expand quite a bit. Even a cereal that was nutritionally safe would have to be cooked with extra water to ensure that it has expanded to its maximum potential. Many grains expand and need to be cooked, but baby cereal tends to expand more than whole grains.

I'm a big fan of quinoa for myself and my birds.
