Are you sure he's a "he?" I have a friend who has two names I consider really nice ones for females - Larissa and Athena.

Good luck with the naming!

Yes he is a he. I had him tested last week before I picked him up. He had his sexing done and was tested for PBFD and a whole blood screen, as I have so many other birds I don't want to introduce anything untoward to them.

He came back as a he and neg to PBFD but his levels for everything else has been very scary.

Kind regards

Oh dear, I am hoping that everything else can be overcome with lots of loving care and good food from you!

Let us know what name you choose for him! I'll bet your daughter can come up with a good one!

If you have a bird that shows possible symptoms of PBFD externally (deformed feathers) please, please please have a FEATHER BIOPSY done of a suspicious feather!

Sometimes the blood testing can come back negative (because the virus is not circulating in high enough levels to detect in the blood stream) but the feather pulp will be a positive. I have personally seen this twice now and it is very scary to think you could expose your flock because you believe a bird to be negative.

...well I almost named my "possum"....Miette.
Pronounced (me-ette) Its french for small, sweet thing wink
I REALLY like it...I may use it as a nickname for her.
We had a Green-Cheek named "Schatzie" which is German for sweetheart.
I really like those foreign names that have special meanings. But thats just my preference. So now you might ask why Possum?
Well....just when we got her, we had a little visitor in our backyard wink a real Opossum!
So it just seemed to be cute, and he has come back to visit us a few times. Mean little bugger though....

All of our birds have the feather biopsy and the bloods done as extra measures!!!! AND DO NOT COME NEAR UNTILL THE ALL CLEAR HAS BEEN GIVEN!!! I'm happy to take in any bird so long as they don't have anything that could harm my other birds!!

He has no signs of PBFD at all but he was tested for it. It's my rule that it is done on any bird entering our property!!

Thanks for your concern it's very welcomed!

Kind regards

Aya's name is Hebrew for bird. I wanted to name her Morgan, but the kids won. I also like famous people names. Birt might have been named Morrison after Jim Morrison if he hadn't already had a name. I also like names that fit personalities, but the downside is you have to wait a few weeks for just the right name to come to you.

Well maybe if you give some of the names you guys were thinking about??? Also you didn't say if it is a boy or a girl.

I truly believe that character and personality make the name.

Try going on a baby name website.

He is a little 18 month old boy. We have been at a loss with names this time. He is so shy and traumatised that I don't think that his true personality will shine for a while yet.

Kind regards
