Please do not support the breeder from Cullman AL in any way. I'm surprised to see that even being suggested here... buying cages from a woman who sells large numbers of parrots at a flea market.

I read the post as she sells cages and supplies at the flea market, not actual birds; but she's still a breeder whether she has them (birds)at the market or not so it's best not to buy from her, is that correct? Not that I'm in danger of buying from her since I'm far away, I just want to make sure I have that guideline correct in case I run into a similar scenario out my way ...

... back on this subject (Need help ASAP) ...

My rescued 'too was on a seed only diet; I started by cutting back on how much seed was in the bowl, and added maybe 1/3 pellet, offered it to him for a couple of hours in the morning and then a couple of hours at night but with one bowl of pellets always available ... if that makes sense? Same with a small bowl of veggies ... like 1 pea pod, 1 mini carrot, 1 kidney bean, ect ... half of it ends up on the bottom of the cage, but I just keep on trying ... he likes to chew all the floret stuff off the top of the broccoli now, lol.

I don't want to hijack the thread (and this will be my last post on this matter) she breeds many different species of birds including cockatoos and sells at two flea markets in the area. I know for a fact that she sells birds at one because it is less than 5 minutes from my house so I have checked her out. She also sells supplies in the same location.

I live in N. Alabama and am extremely familiar with her "operation"... I wouldn't have posted at all, but I hate to see people supporting her especially on a board that is anit-cockatoo breeding.

Good luck with your new cockatoo - there are many posts around here on changing diet. The search tool is invaluable.

Before you enter the message board there is a section of interesting & useful articles...one of which is food related. It's worth the time to check out! Keep us posted!
