We have said good-bye to a beloved pet, our G2 Kazoo. We believe she looked to us for release from her pain & suffering, which had increased over the past 4 months. As pet caregivers we believe there is always a time and place for heroic measures. As one very special phobic plucker turned mutilator, with fears of humans; it was agreed upon how it would have been selfish on our part to keep her around for our enjoyment. The tears keep coming & will for some time I imagine…………………………Hubby and I were able to hold her & have peaceful, tearful last moments……………………I just know she is once again fully feathered & flighted as God had intended.
When she came into our lives 18 months ago, I told my husband “God’s angels couldn’t be everywhere, so he sent us a cockatoo”
We truly gave her the best life any captive cockatoo could enjoy!

I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm sure that you did everything possible to help Kazoo. She's flying happy and free now because of you and your families love and unselfishness. Nancy

1WW, I'm so sorry to learn of this loss of your Kazoo. Let the tears flow I'm sure it was one of the hardest decisions you've ever made. Thank you for loving her and letting her go.

I am very sorry for the pain - hers and yours and for your loss as well. Fly free little Kazoo!

1ww, so sorry to hear of your loss. It takes a very selfless person to be able to put the needs of an animal above your feelings for them. You know in your heart you did the right thing. Kazoo is now flying free with all the other angels up there. Hugs to you and your family. Sharon

I know in my heart that they tell us when they can't do it anymore from an experience with a dog with bone cancer. You are a brave bird mom to have been able to interpret that look and know what to do. It's anything but easy. But somehow you just know it's the right thing to do.Thank you for making the right choice.Share your pain. The grief will ease.

I'm so very sorry 1ww, I know how very much you care for your babies and there is no doubt in my mind that you did everything possible for Kazoo. Thank you for being there for her....she knows she was and will always be loved. ((( hugs )))

1WW, sorry to hear about Kazoo, I feel your pain with losing Steiner last Nov. My mind still wanders sometimes & I see her sitting on God's shoulder, so I know she's ok & we know that Kazoo is there too. Take your time & greive.

I'm so sorry to hear about Kazoo. We all know that you did what was best for Kazoo, and it was done out of love. I'm sure it was a relief for Kazoo though.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Take Care ((HUGS))

I somehow missed this when it happened. (((big huge huggs))) to you and your family. Kazoo is smiling up there now, you made the biggest sacrifice of all, letting go so she would have peace.

1WW, I'm so sorry to hear this, it must have been so hard, but I'm glad Kazoo found someone as compassionate as you to be her caretaker.

Thank you all! Life is not the same in our home, nor expected to be of course. It seems so surreal some days. We are all reminded in a weird way, because hubby keeps calling Nikki, Kazoo! oops
Kazoos life had a purpose & I have thrown myself harder into Avian Welfare lately. Not always sitting too well with some in the bird community around here. I'm not easily dissuaded, I'm in for the long haul! I couldn't imagine doing it with out this great site to refer folks to. Thanks for being a great support group all.
