Another member told me I should post a pic of this stand.

http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff303/SnowyMommy/Snowy/PortableStand.jpg

It is made from the stand part of a standing fan and a dowel. The fan would not stay attached anymore, it broke so this was made. I have one of those proper T stands, but the benefit of this is it is super lightweight, takes up less room and cleaning the base is really easy. Just hot water sprayed on the base from the shower head does it. I can throw it in the car for a day trip to a friend's house or leave it in the corner of the room Snowy and I happen to be in. Moving it is a cinch.

What a creative idea for a stand! And I just threw away one of those broken standing fans a few months ago, never even thought of using it that way, geeeez, wish I had kept it now.

Yep, I got one of those, when I took in Cory... I thought the man very clever to have done that... It can be set at different heights.

don't overlook office chair bases and barstools. they too make a great base for an easy and portable perch. though they won't replace a proper playstand, they go anywhere- including to tub so the birds can have their showers. the original i made for pedro over 20 yrs ago only needs an occasional perch replacement and is still in daily use.

I forgot to mention that the pole does pull out of the base and comes apart into two pieces, making transport in small vehicles even easier.

Another thing that works good is an old roll around office chair. I built one with the base of an old office chair I had that the back broke on. Its made out that & wooden dowels. PVC works super also, I built one out of that also. Will take some pics & post them soon...

Aah, I am too soon old and too late smart. Next time I dispose of one of those, I'll think twice. Great idea! Janie
