Coco had some banana this morning...and then a few hours later a bit of watermellon (maybe two bite sized pieces)...she's thrown up about 4 times since then....can anyone tell me why ?? Is watermellon bad for her?
she's an M2....

My U2s eat a lot of banana...and Charlie's Baby Girl loves watermelon....but Coco may be alergic...they are as individual as we are....a call to your DVM may be in order....let us know

Is she regurging or actually throwing up? If she is throwing up, you need to take her to the vet as soon as possible.

at first it looked like just regurging, but the last couple of times, she kind of shook her head a bit....I believe she was throwing up. She drank some water now, and has seemed to settle down. Should I just watch her for a while and see how she does?

Is she throwing up or shaking her crop to empty it? Scarlett did this 2 times after we first got her and the food she ate was just too rich for her system. After she emptied her crop she was perfectly fine. Of course this was always late on a Sat note with NO ER AV vets avail! First time was a scallop can't remember the other...maybe fish? Call AV just to make sure!

Thanks so much Scarletts mom....that makes me feel a bit better, although I'm still watching her very carefully! She could have been just trying to empty her crop. She seems pretty much back to normal at the moment.... busy preening !!
I'll watch her for a bit, and see if she eats later or not, and how she does. Thanks so much for the quick answers...

sorry it took so long to get back, my computer was down, I was on strike....long story, but we're up and running.
Coco had an allergic reaction to the watermellon. She is doing great again, and is totally back to her normal self. The vomitting lasted for that evening and once the next morning. I took her in just to be safe, and I'm still glad I did. No more watermellon for Coco!! lol

Scarlett had too much buffalo chicken (husband let her eat off his plate and she ate too much and it was spicy!) the other week and 1 hour later she was getting that stuff out! I only let her have the inside part of the chicken tender without spice. I guess he was just letting her have bites with the hot sauce. I don't freak out anymore but it is still scarey to have to smell and figure out what she is expelling. After 3 shakes all was fine!

Glad to hear Coco was ok! No more spicy foods or scallops here! Never tried watermelon. Not sure if I should now! LOL!

Actually the spicy stuff won't hurt. Brewster loves jalepeno peppers! I would suspect the chicken wouldn't agree with the bird. Cockatoos aren't designed to eat meat. Of course after your bird eats spicy stuff, avoid their beak! No kisses (-;
